Graduate School Bound

Steve was part of a job layoff in February.  Instead of jumping into another job he didn't like, his parents encouraged him to take his time and figure out exactly what he wanted to do.  He had his eye on the various Sport's Management Master's programs in the area.
SMU is starting it's inaugural class this fall  Baylor has a program that's been around for several years.  One required the GMAT and another required the GRE.  Both had deadlines in early March.  There was no time to waste.  With the support of his parents, Steve dove head first into studying.
By early April, Steve received his acceptance letter to Baylor University.  We were thrilled!  Baylor is a great option for us.  Obviously the distance would be an issue.  So, if he chose to go to Baylor then he would live down in Waco with my mom during the week.
By mid-April, Steve received a letter from SMU.  Just so stinkin' proud of Stevan! Now he had a choice.  Both are awesome schools.  The idea of getting to be a part of the first class in SMU's Sport's Management is just too good to pass up!
Come Fall 2013 we will have an SMU Mustang in the house!

Wicked

What better way to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday than to go see Wicked at Fair Park!?  This is my favorite musical for lots of reason- the music, the message, the clever storyline, the comedic parts, the heart-tugging moments... it's pure genius.  It's even more fun to see this production with people who've never seen it before.  Lori and I are Wicked experts.  Beverly and Gretchen had never seen it.  The four of us had a wonderful evening with Glinda and Elphaba!  So glad Bev had a birthday so we had an excuse to see it!

LISD Swim Prep Program

Caleb swims for LISD during the school year.  Coach Tom is the Lewisville HS coach and is Caleb's coach in this swim prep program.  Too bad Caleb will eventually be going to Marcus HS.  The program is great because attendance is up the families.  You can come as much or as little as you want.  Then a few times a year they have small swim meets.  We have been carpooling with the Woods and Engberson families which makes it much easier on all of us.   Right now Caleb's enjoys back stroke, butterfly, and free style.  He really isn't a fan of breast stroke (but neither was his daddy!)

Master Bedroom Redo

I've been wanting to redo our master bedroom for some time.  Just been tired of the green.  I knew I wanted to go gray or blue.  Vicki and I found the perfect fabric after searching for a few days.  From there I chose the paint color and started painting.  Steve is much faster at painting, so he took over the bedroom paint while I focused on the bathroom.  Vicki found the perfect bedding online and sewed everything else.  It all came together beautifully.

Ladybug Release

We did a ladybug release in our backyard.  Our school does this every year with the students.  Caleb helped stuff the cups with ladybugs and brought some home for our garden.  They like plants that have been newly watered.  The ladybugs are very thirsty and hungry upon release.  The boys had fun helping me "release" the ladybugs onto our roses.

The Umpire's Son

Steve would never plan it this way, but he served as home plate umpire in Carter's game.  Carter kept it very professional .  He didn't say anything to dad.  Steve even called a strike on Carter.  I let my feelings be known. :-)

Carter's Face

April is baseball month which also means it's the month Carter's face gets all marked up.  He took a ball off the top of his cheekbone.
He also took a ball off his eye.

A Day Out with Thomas

When Randi invited me to join her for A Day Out with Thomas, I jumped at the chance to take Brenner.  Meesha, Dawson, Randi, Tate, Brenner, and I all rode the train pulled by Thomas.  To say Brenner was thrilled is an understatement.  What a fun day with wonderful friends for both Brenner and myself!

Easter 2013

Happy Easter!  We were up early for Easter and the egg hunt.  We actually met Nanny and Papa for breakfast at Cracker Barrel and then Carter and I headed north to OKC to watch the Lady Bears in the Sweet 16.  They unexpectedly lost that game which was the end of their NCAA tournament run.

Ross & Reid Evans

Megan and Randy had their twin BOYS!  Ross and Reid are precious!  Just two little miracles!  They've waited a long time for these guys to get here.  Lots of fertility treatments and lots of bed rest.  What a journey it's been.  So thrilled for the Evans family!

Caleb Turns 11

Baby Boy is 11 years old.  I brought Caleb lunch for his last birthday at Heritage Elementary.  Hard to believe this is his last year in elementary school and is a pre-teen.  Caleb picked Rockfish for his birthday dinner.  Any chance I get to go out with my four guys, it's a special night.  So thankful to have Caleb Aubrey as my son.  He's such a delight.  He's a quiet, hard-working boy with a sweet spirit and is kind to everyone he meets.  He laughs loudly and thinks deeply.  Caleb treats his younger brothers well even when they are on his nerves.  He's most talkative after a swim practice.  Any other time he will only share information on an as-needed basis.  He is extremely responsible and loyal to his small circle of friends.  I feel like I'm raising my husband.  That's probably why Caleb and I get along so well.

Watch DOGS

Steve was able to serve as Watch DOGS at Heritage.  The boys were so excited and proud to have their dad at school.  (Steve picked this day since it was the day before Caleb's birthday)  They introduced him on the announcements at the start of the school day.  Steve spend his day wandering the hallways, checking on the classrooms, helping in the cafeteria, walking the perimeter of the school, among other things.  Some teachers had no problem grabbing him and putting him to work!  Steve certainly has a new understanding of how the school works and what goes on during the day.  Watch DOGS is an amazing program!  So glad our neighbor, Tim Meeks, brought it to our school this year!  Steve's already signed up to serve another day before summer break.

Western Day

It was Western Day at MDO for Brenner and Dawson.  Could these boys be any cuter?  And look at them holding hands- just the best of friends!

Caleb's Party

What a handsome guy!  Almost 11 years old!
Caleb wanted to have a Laser Tag and Video Game birthday party.  We went to Main Event and met a few friends for an afternoon of fun.  Steve had to take his GRE test, but was able to meet up with us as soon as his test was over.  Penny Woods, Amye Engberson, and Nanny all were around to help out.  This was one of the easiest parties I've put together.  The kids are all old enough to play on their own with little help from us adults.  Caleb had a great day and enjoyed every minute of the time he had with his friends!
