Monster Jam

Here's an event every man dreams about... taking his sons to the Monster Jam! All the men and boys on our street went to the Monster Jam at Cowboy's Stadium last night. The seven men and nine boys piled into three vehicles and spent the afternoon and evening at this testosterone filled event. They all picked up "pit passes" so they could go down on the floor and see the monster trucks up close and personal.
These trucks all have sponsors just like NASCAR.
I bought the guys tickets on Thursday morning. I had to use a ticket broker since all the decent seats were already sold. I got them on row 11 in the lower level. Ends up they were on the front row because rows 1-10 were covered with a tarp. They ended up being awesome seats. You can see all the Monster trucks out on display before the Monster Jam began.
Carter and his soccer buddy, Hayden, enjoyed snow cones, chicken fingers, and french fries. Yep, a perfect Monster Jam meal.
These trucks were enormous!
Steve said the first part of the night was a dirt track car race. This brings back memories of Friday nights in Waco. I have 2 cousins that drove in these kind of races. Steve said I would have felt at home. (I think he's calling me a red-neck)

Then the second part of the evening was the Monster Jam. Looks like lots of jumping and tricks. They guys all wore ear plugs. The boys have told me numerous stories of all the various things these trucks did. It sounds like they were captivated the entire evening.

And of course there was the Monster Truck crushing the Winnebago. I can only imagine the excitement all the men and boys felt when they pulled that old dumpy motor home out on the track.

And here's Maximum Destruction with it's nose in the dirt and it's tires off. I don't think this is how the trick was suppose to go.

Steve caught a photo from the screen. He said a huge fireball burst from the truck as it hit the ground. Oh, the thrill.
\
And the "skanky girls"- Steve's name for them. Each truck got a score after their tricks. Looks like they picked a regular mom out of the audience to also hold a score card. Caleb and Carter had the best time. I think the guys made some great memories. Caleb told me next time he needs to bring a sign to support his favorite Monster Truck. Looks like we've created our own little red-necks.

Winter Swim

The boys got home from school and decided it was warm enough to swim. Sure, go ahead.
Brenner and Elfy were sad to be left inside. I'm thinking this might be their view much of the summer. They better get used to it.
Carter got on the diving board. I counted to 3- never thinking he would actually do it. But right on cue he hit the water. As quickly as he jumped in was as quick as he got out!
Fully submerged! "It's freezing!!!!" were his exact words. Ya think?
Caleb just opted to slide into the water and do a circle swim back to the platform.
I can't imagine how cold that deep water was. But they made me laugh. Can't believe they actually did it.

What a Week!

Snowmaggedon, Icemaggedon, SuperBlast 2011, the biggest winter freeze in 20 years... Call it what you want but we are smack dab in the middle of it. Last weekend we were in shorts and t-shirts enjoying the 80 degree weather. Carter was running up and down the soccer field sweating and red-faced for his first soccer practice. Since that day all practice has been cancelled. In fact, everything has been cancelled. No school, no swim lessons, no piano, no soccer, and at times, no power. And here we are, it's the weekend now. Yet, I feel like I'm in an unending weekend because these people never leave to go to their respective school or job. We've made the most of it. We've so far survived without any major fights. I realize I am not meant to be a home school mom. About 1 hour of crafts was all I could handle this week. We've had lots of cartoons, movies, Wii, ITouch, book reading. Thankful for Wipeout and Funniest Home Videos for entertaining the children in the evenings.
Brenner has turned his high chair into his recliner. There is a small TV in front of him that he watches movies on. This helps us kill a few hours a day. Yes, I'm that kind of mom.
View from our front door this morning.
Elfy loves being out in it. Just know, under the snow is an inch of ice. That's what has kept most people home.
Scrapbook mess. Might as well get something done.
Pool is still running- thank God. If it's running, it's not frozen, right?
Our path is somewhere back there.
Thankful this kid has 5 pair of footed PJs. He has only worn real clothing once this week. We ventured out to Snuffer's for our discounted lunch along with 100 other people who printed the coupon. It was a madhouse, but it was one less meal I had to cook. See, this is what I've realized. When my family is in the house for every meal that means they have to eat every meal with me! Yikes! Getting a bit tired of prepping, making, and cleaning up meals all day. I'm really just used to doing the dinner thing. Again, not meant to be a home school mom.
Here's my guy working from home. 3 computers surrounding him. He has tolerated us well. The occasional stinky diaper change has to happen right next to his work space. Guessing that's different from how things are done at Baylor. He did drive all the way to work on Wednesday. Some things had to get done at his building. Thankful that this day in age most businessy people can work remotely.
It's been an interesting week. Hoping for school for Monday. Really hoping for it.
