First Day of PreSchool

Sweet Brenner put on his big orange backpack and carried his big blue lunch box into his first day of Preschool!!  Isn't he just a doll!?
He's so proud of his lunch box.  He wanted to hold it up for me to see it.  He goes to school like Bubby and Tar Tar now.
So thankful to be his mommy!  He's sweet as can be and so much fun.  Hard to believe he's big enough to go to MDO, but I'm so ready for him to have this fun time at school.... not to mention the fun time I'll have while he's at school.  No tears from me.  Just smiles!

First Day of School

It's the first day of school!  We are ready for 4th grade and 1st grade!
Here's our annual back to school photo.
Brenner wanted to be a big boy just like his brothers.
How did I get so lucky?
Walking into Heritage for the first day of classes.
I somehow lost the photo of Carter sitting at his desk.  Here's Caleb in his big 4th grade classroom.  10 years ago I was newly pregnant with him and teaching 4th grade.  I can't believe that was 10 years ago!
Caleb gets to be in class with his friend, Emily.  They are both excited to be reunited.  The last time they were in the same class was kindergarten.
Now we have 11 kids from our cul-de-sac riding the bus home.  We have one in 5th, two in 4th, one in 3rd, one in 2nd, four in 1st, and two in K.  We still have five preschoolers left.

Meet the Teacher and Splash Bash

We had Meet the Teacher last Thursday.  Carter has Mrs. Yocum for first grade.  Our neighbor Payton is in his class too.  Her class is the inclusion class so we also have Mr. G helping out.  We get the bonus of two teachers in one room!
Ms. Charlotte was also at Meet the Teacher helping students find their bus route.  We love Ms. Charlotte and are so thankful to have someone as wonderful as her to drive the boys to and from school!
We have a new principal this year- Mr. Maxson!  He is going to be a great addition to our school.  He is high energy and been a part of LISD since he was in school.  He has kids at our school too.
One of the new things Mr. Maxson started was the Back to School Splash Bash.  Our PTA rented out the entire CAC (indoor and outdoor pool areas) on Saturday night so all the Heritage families and staff were able to have some fun pool time together.  Carter and his buddy, Hunter, loved playing in the pool.
My big school boys!
Carter met up with lots of his kindergarten friends- all of which are now 1st graders!  We love our Heritage families!

Theory Camp

The first week of August I host 4 different Music Theory Camps in my home.  On Monday morning I had 9 kids at the house aged 5-7 to learn beginner music theory.  That afternoon I taught the same class, but for ages 8 and older.  I had 7 kids in that class.  Then on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday I had the group of kids you see in the photo above.  Most of them are my current students.  We built on all the music theory we've already learned.  We covered tons of material including famous composers, rhythm exercises, basic theory, music composition, timed drills, sight reading, and lots of music games.  We had lots of fun together.  Thursday night I had a group of teenagers over to work on reading chord charts.  I was exhausted when it was all finished, but I had a fantastic time.  I think it's something I want to do every year!

Golfing at LakeCliff on Lake Travis

Steve and his dad went golfing while we were at the lake this summer.  It was so stinkin' hot, but they went early and had a great time.
While the big guys were golfing I tracked down the boys also out on the golf course.  They were in a week-long sports camp at the lake this summer.  Carter and Cole are on the far left with the instructor and Caleb is on the far right in the red shirt.
Here's Carter shot.  He was upset I didn't get a photo of where the ball landed because he "did really good".
These 2 are just the best of cousins!  Carter and Cole have so much fun together.  They are both going into first grade this year.  Maybe future Baylor roommates??
Love this boys!

Steve and Brenner's Birthdays

Happy 2nd Birthday to Brenner and Happy 36th Birthday to Steve (notice the 3 and then 6 baseball gloves)
Steve always wanted an Elmo cake for his birthday.  Guess that's what happens when you have a child with a birthday really close to your birthday.
Family photo plus Cole, Grammy, and Grandpa
Grammy and Grandpa got Brenner this super cool Melissa & Doug shopping cart.  They also gave him Swiper and Diego so he could have little friends ride at the front of the cart- just like he does with me every week at the grocery store.  He pushes that cart all over our house and piles as much stuff into it that he can.

Brenner Booty

Yes, I know it's been a month since I've blogged.  You would think with this crazy, hot summer I'd just sit inside at the computer all day.  Well, the blog has been a bit neglected.  I do have lots of photos to share; just gotta get to posting.  Meanwhile, I'll leave you with a photo of Brenner tonight in the bathtub.  This boy loves his baths.  So much so that I have to bribe him to get him out.  Otherwise I'll get a full blown 2 year old tantrum.  Who can resist this kid?  He's just too cute- bare booty and all!
