The Baby and His Dog

Brenner is obsessed with Elfy. Maybe it's because they are similar in size. Maybe it's because she's always on the floor near him. Who knows?
These two will chew toys together.
They share kisses.
They move together.
And just hang out. (See, they're even sticking their tongues out and each clasping they're chosen toy.)

Valentine's Date

Here's my Valentine's gift: Country dancing at Cowboys Red River in Dallas. We figured out it's been since the Shans wedding... that's the last time we danced together. Hard to comprehend for me. I use to go dancing ALL THE TIME prior to Steve entering my world. Crazy what you give up for love.
Here's Jeff and Beverly Jordan. We've been friends for 7 years. We are in the same small group at church. They've invited us to join them several times before. It took a little convincing, but Steve finally agreed to go.
And here's Kenneth and Erin Skillett. Love these guys! Fellow Wacoans (although we didn't meet until living up here). Their oldest daughter is our baby sitter. The boys just adore Lizzy! Erin was just about as thrilled as Steve when it came to planning for this evening. But I think she had a good time!
See, we're actually on the dance floor 2-stepping the night away. We even did a couple of waltzes. My family would have been proud.
Now sadly we would dance to one song and then have to rest our hips. We were out of dancing shape! Or maybe it's just because we've gotten older! Oh, and speaking of getting older, I got carded going into Cowboys. I was so excited to show the doorman my driver's license. 34 years old and getting carded. I'll take that.
Beverly and Jeff spent lots of time on the dance floor. These two are naturals.
Love this girl! We started Team FROG together. She's walked the last 4 Breast Cancer 3Days. This year will be her 5th. She's amazing!
And my sweet friend, Erin. She's such a trooper.
Big thanks to my Valentine for such a fun night! I love you!

Snowmageddon

What was predicted to be 1-3 inches of snow turned out to be 12.5 inches. Snowmageddon reached DFW. The meteorologists couldn't have been more wrong. Thursday, February 11th, was the most magical day. Snow, snow, and more snow. It felt like our home had been transplanted to Colorado. It was wonderful!

Above is a photo of the boys from Thursday. Below is a photo of the boys 3 years ago. I can't believe how much bigger they are!
All 3 of my guys got a little snow action. Brenner was completely indifferent. He was a little curious, but not nearly as excited as his big brothers.
This is just one of the 10 snowball fights the boys had throughout the day. They would go outside for 15 minutes then come in to warm up. See, we don't have the proper snow gear, so their shoes and socks would be soaked. The dryer, fire place, and electric blanket were used constantly.

Remember this little 2 year old? He HATED the cold.
I had C & C recreate Carter's sad face. He has told me since that he loves the snow now.
We brought Brenner out again to try to get a photo of his face. He was completely in awe of the snow coming down. He just kept staring out and away from my face.
The snow came down consistently for 20 or more hours. Just beautiful!
We've never seen our neighborhood like this!
Even Elfy had a great time!
Steve went into work that morning, but was home by lunch. We knew it was only going to get worse as the day progressed. Nice having a son big enough to take our picture!
Here's Steve on Friday morning trying to knock all the snow off our trees. We did not want to lose any limbs due to the heaviness of the snow and ice. Way to go, honey. And yes, that's a broom he's using.
Amazing and beautiful!
All of our holly trees survived. But there's lots of berries now on the ground.
This just gives you an idea of how much snow came down. Everything was covered in white!
In the 10 years I've lived up here we've probably only had snow 10 times, and 5 of those were this year. It's crazy! I'm so glad we all got to be home and enjoy it together!

Happy Valentine's Day!

from our little Casanova!

Brenner 6 & 7 Months

Brenner Oz is now 7 months old!! Can't believe it! I took his 6 month photo, but never got around to posting it (or his 6 months stats).

6 Month Stats:
Weight: 16 lb, 9 oz; 60%
Height: 27 in; 90%
Head: 44.5 cm; 95%

Above is a photo from this morning. Hard to catch this little guy being still. He's always on the go! A few of the highlights of the past 2 months:

*sitting in a high chair to eat

*squealing, squawking, just being too loud for his big brothers

*starting to say "bah bah bah bah bah"

*chewing on everything around, but no teeth yet!

*rolling around, then to a sitting position and back down again

*crawling

*chewing the dog's bone (oops)

*eating all fruits and veggies; not a fan of meat

*has learned to spit his food out and thinks it's funny

*great car seat rider (spends roughly 3 hours a day in the car seat)

*Elfy's biggest fan- he loves that dumb dog and she just sits there while he grabs at her and holds onto her collar

*getting too long to wear most 6-9 month clothes, but too skinny to wear bigger stuff

*hums himself to sleep

*will nap anywhere anytime

*naps on Daddy every evening

*wakes up smiling every morning

*gives all of us such joy

Crawling

It's official. The eve of his 7th month of life he decided to turn his scooching and rolling into the real thing. He's been moving one hand and trying to do it, but hadn't quite figured the whole thing out until now. He'll just crawl 3 or 4 steps and then stop, but it's still real crawling. Just can't believe it!

Laughs and Snorts

Nothing makes you smile more than a laughing and snorting baby!

Rock Band Family Fun

Our family is loving Rock Band. The boys mostly play Lego Rock Band. We also have The Beatles, but it is a bit harder. So, I thought I'd post a couple of videos of what happens in the evenings in the James house. Caleb is singing "Kung Fu Fighting" in the clip above. Carter is singing "Life is a Highway" in the clip below. You can see Brenner is enjoying the Rock Band too!
